Advice that speaks to women’s real lives: Katrania Lowers in FT Adviser’s 51 for 51 series

Financial advice should reflect the realities of women’s lives. That’s the message from Colmore Partners financial planner Katrania Lowers, who is featured in FT Adviser’s 51 for 51 series, which highlights women making a positive impact in financial services.

In her interview, Katrania stresses the importance of planning holistically for key life events, including starting a family, taking a career break, or managing caring responsibilities, and calls for more inclusive spaces that support financial education and confidence building.

Katrania entered the profession via an unconventional route, forgoing university in favour of a business administration apprenticeship, which introduced her to financial services.

With over a decade of experience, she believes her strength lies in trust, empathy and communication, helping clients feel at ease and simplifying complex topics.

“I’ve been told I naturally put clients at ease, which is so important when you’re talking about money. It’s such a personal subject that making people feel comfortable and able to open up is key,” she said.

“I believe in doing the right thing for clients, even if that means having a difficult conversation or advising against something that might be easier or more profitable. Trust is the foundation of this profession. It’s of absolute importance that I uphold that trust and that my clients know they’re in safe and ethical hands.”
